Current Technology Used at Tewksbury Dental Associates

The dental cone beam computed tomography machine creates unique type of x-ray used in situations where regular dental or facial x-rays are not sufficient. The digital scanner uses software and technology to generate 3 dimensional images of dental structures, soft tissues, nerve paths and bone in the craniofacial region in a single scan. Images obtained with a 3D digital CBCT allow for more precise treatment planning.

With our CEREC digital treatment planning and milling system we can provide our patients with inlays, onlays, crowns and veneers in only one appointment. Over 250 scientific studies have been conducted that prove the clinical safety of tried and tested CEREC tooth restorations.

A laser is an instrument that produces a very narrow, intense beam of light energy. When laser light comes in contact with tissue, it causes a reaction. The light produced by the laser can be used to remove or shape tissue. Lasers have been used in dentistry since 1990. They are safe and effective for a wide range of procedures.

We use VELscope in our practice as an oral cancer-screening device. It does not diagnose cancer, but it is an outstanding non-invasive screening device that enhances the oral examination by your clinician or doctor. VELscope technology stimulates epithelial cells and stroma by a blue light (400-460 nm). It is the self-fluorescence of these tissues that allows detection of changes and composition of the tissues in a non-evasive manner.

Ministar is the machine in our office that let’s us make professional-grade athletic mouth guards with custom logo, Occlusal guards of any design and TMJ/TMD orthotics and splints.
